A possible merger between two airlines may not fly under the radar too much but I thought it be interesting to look at the possible merger. There will be more passengers and that translate to more income being generated. However, many people are wondering will the merger send ticket pricing through the roof. For certain routes, you should expect a price change. I would not expect immediate changes but once the deal actually get done there will be few. When you consider the rising cost of fuel then you definitely expect price hikes to come.
Hopefully, the merger will not effect the service of either airlines going forward. Travelers will benefit by having more routes that was not normally available for them by using one or other carriers. It is believed that most business travelers will love the possible merger because they will have more options when the companies merge.
Merger is one way companies will stay afloat. There have been many airlines that have declared for bankruptcy only to merge with another company after coming out of bankruptcy. Therefore, it is the natural order of things considering, US Air has declared bankruptcy twice and this will be there second merger. There first merger was with America West. Well, everyone has heard the saying it if you cannot beat them join them and it makes perfect sense for US Air to join forces with American Airlines. This would be one less airline that they would be in competition with for passengers. This is not a done deal; however, over time, it will help the industry. Below is more video regarding the possible merger of the two airlines.

Rumors popping up around the web today of American Airlines and US Airways inching closer to a merger. The two airlines have been negotiating the possible deal for months and neither has confirmed so far whether the rumors are true.
